There isn’t a person in America or Canada whose heart doesn’t ache when they encounter an advertisement for the starving children of Africa or Asia. Heart wrenching pictures and testimonies of hardship and death tug at our heart strings. And we all tell ourselves that we ought to do something to help. And then we turn the channel. Well, the same thing is happening right here at home. Thousands upon thousands of our young people are dying – not of starvation, but from drugs and suicide. Millions of young people are falling victim to abuse and neglect. The testimonies are equally as heart wrenching. And everyone who encounters the young people of Freedom Village and hears their testimonies pledges to help. But far too many end up walking away and “turning the channel”. And that is where I desperately need your help. Freedom Village doesn’t have dramatic infomercials on national television to draw attention to the plight of these kids. We rely on our supporters – churches and individual believers – to spread the exciting news of what is happening at Freedom Village. We ask you to bring new people to our banquets and concerts and to tell new people about us. And we need your help now more than ever. As we work to fill the dormitories (we have filled the girls dorm and have a few beds left in the boys dorm), it is essential that we find new partners to support these new young people – friends who offer their prayers, encouragement, and finances to teens who often have no other support. And the way we find new partners is when you share the ministry with others. I challenge you to please share the ministry with two other people this month. Hand them this newsletter, or call and get our brand new Adopt A Teen brochure to give away to others. Ask your pastor to have a singing group visit your church. Do whatever you can to help us get the word out – God is working at Freedom Village! Share the blessings, and in turn, bless these young people. Share the ministry with someone today! renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
